Join us on February 11 as Paul Ryll discusses the rapidly evolving landscape of the appraisal profession and equips participants with the insight needed to navigate—and influence—the next era of valuation practice.
This course examines the structural changes impacting the real estate appraisal profession, including the nationwide reduction in appraiser numbers, evolving data and reporting standards such as UAD 3.6, and the breakdown of traditional training and mentorship models. Participants will explore the historical development of appraisal training, the limitations of the current supervisory trainee system, and the rationale behind alternative pathways to licensure.
The course provides an overview of emerging education and experience models, including PAREA and practicum-based programs, and evaluates their implications for competency, public trust, and the future of valuation practice.
